Garden Plant Dispatch Supervisor for Horticultural / Garden Centre Company – £11 to £13 per hour – Martock, Near Yeovil

Our Devon based horticultural garden centre business operates a large nursery in Yeovil growing £3 million of garden plants for sale through our own garden centres. We wish to extend our nursery management team by appointing a new garden plant dispatch supervisor who would report to and work with the dispatch manager. The successful candidate will be fully trained and supported by our entire dispatch team so the following responsibilities could be dealt with: 

1. Picking garden plant orders from our nurseries for our own garden centres – this type of work is physical and requires lifting and carrying of 25kg. Lots of bending and turning so would suit applicants who enjoy physical hard work and would enjoy the physical nature of the job.

2. After training leading a team of pickers each day to select plants for delivery in volume – we grow £3 million of garden plants so workload is high

3. Organising printing of labels using computer – using computer to access information – good I.T. skills required

4. Ability to lead a team in the dispatch bay early mornings or late nights to complete workload – the role of supervisor would allow the dispatch team to operate longer hours each week at peak periods

5. Carrying out various other nursery work including production / cuttings / watering / plant care management / etc

6. The role would involve working as part of a ten-person team helping to pick £3 million of garden plants each year as well as price and redistribute another £3 million of garden plants brought in from the UK and European suppliers. As part of your supervisor role you would be expected to cope with and resolve numerous issues that arise daily

7. This is an immediate start position that would suit someone who can join our successful team in the next few weeks and take advantage of full training in all aspects of the role.

Skills that we require for this position:

1. Good I.T. skills / experience on spread sheets and on computers generally

2. Good levels of English – spoken and written

4. Car Driver – our nursery is on the outskirts of Newton Abbot and there is regular but limited public transport

5. Previous experience of working in a horticultural nursery / garden centre / busy warehouse / packing and picking orders / dealing with paperwork and avoiding errors

6. Any qualifications in relation to the above would be welcome

 

Details of this role

1. Mainly Monday to Friday / Saturday morning . At peak trading times of the year we operate six days per week / seven days per week so dispatch and picking teams must have flexibility regarding weekly work rota’s.

2. 35 hours to 45 hours per week – normally 8am to 5.30pm

3. Holiday is 28 days

4. The role will be supported by full on-site training by one of our office managers

5. We can offer between £11 and £13 per hour depending on your experience and skills – this equates to £23,000 to £27,000 per annum

6. After six months, applicants will be given the option of joining our bonus scheme which increases hourly pay by approx. 10% – this incentive scheme is based on personal performance and company sales results.

7. Applicants will be given a list of targets to achieve in the first 12 months and will then be assessed on progress towards these targets.

Garden Product Buying Administrator for Horticultural / Garden Centre Company – £13 to £15 per hour – Newton Abbot Based

Our Devon based horticultural garden centre business operates a large nursery in Newton Abbot growing £3 million of garden plants for sale through our own garden centres. We wish to extend our head office management team by appointing a new buying administrator who would report to and work with our head office team. This new appointment would be fully trained and supported by our entire head office team so the following responsibilities could be dealt with: 

1. Communicating to over 150 UK, European and Far East suppliers for the purchase of garden plants and horticultural dry goods products for our massive retail centres

2. Organsing weekly transport and logistics from UK, Europe and Far East bringing these products to our depots for pricing and redistribution to our retail centres

3. Taking responsibility for the new importing administration required by UK authorities for goods entering the UK plus working with Defra to ensure compliance with Pest and Disease reporting 

4. Creating, updating, and ensuring each product category spread sheet is kept in good order with relevant up to date information

5. Communicating to our managers and departments in relation to all buying / delivery’s information and changes to delivery plans

6. Carrying out a wide range of other office admin tasks to keep the business operational

7. The role would involve working as part of a three-person team helping to buy and organise the purchase and delivery of £10 million of garden centre products as well as deal with the numerous issues that arise daily

We wish to extend our head office management team by appointing a new office administrator / accounts assistant who would report to and work with our head office team. This new appointment would be fully trained and supported by our entire head office team so the following responsibilities could be dealt with: 

1. Accounts Assistant – helping our Accounts Manager with weekly support and holiday cover – experience with Sage / Payroll / Pensions / General accounting skills would be an advantage

2. Human Resources – Assisting our HR manager with a wide range of HR related issues with full training available to cover this department for holiday / etc

3. Health and Safety and Compliance Issues – as above – assisting our manager with a wide range of business administration issues and dealing with a very wide range of day to day issues that affect our company.

4. Vehicle Management – Organsing all vehicle, machinery, equipment servicing, repair and maintenance across a number of horticultural sites

5. Utility management – dealing with every aspect of utilities from insurance to payment card machines

Office Manager for Horticultural Nursery – £14 to £16 per hour – Martock Based – Near Yeovil

Our Devon based horticultural garden centre business operates a large nursery in Martock growing £3 million of garden plants for sale through our own garden centres. We wish to extend our head office management team by appointing a new office manager for this nursery who would report to and work with our head office team. This new appointment would be fully trained and supported by our entire head office team so the following responsibilities could be dealt with on site: 

1. General HR, Health and Safety and Compliance Issues

2. Managing daily employee issues / rota’s

3. Coordinating and listing all nursery / staff accommodation repairs and maintenance for our maintenance team to resolve

4. Organsing all vehicle, machinery, equipment servicing, repair and maintenance

5. Organsing checking in of all deliveries to the nursery and preparation of admin for the accounts department on all deliveries to site

6. Placing orders / contacting third parties / organsing day to day operational issues alongside the nursery manager so that the nursery is successful in its operation.

7. In many ways this role will be the focal point of the nursery and will be involved in organsing many aspects of the day to day operations of the nursery and reporting to our head office.

8. The role will require applicants to be equally at home in an office environment as well as taking a hands on role checking in deliveries, walking the nursery and carrying out physical tasks as part of the wider remit for this role

Our Devon based horticultural garden centre business operates a large nursery in Yeovil growing £3 million of garden plants for sale through our own garden centres. We seek an experienced HGV 2 driver to deliver our garden plants and dry goods between our nurseries and garden centres. The position would be as follows:

1. Driving our company lorries between Yeovil, Exeter, Newton Abbot and Plymouth making deliveries and collections as required each week.

2. Carrying out all duties in line with expected procedures and policies

 

Applicants with the following Skills would be ideal for this position:
