Job description

Due to expansion our £12 million garden plant nursery business based at Martock requires more garden plant production supervisors.

We are currently recruiting a range of supervisor/ managerial roles within our nursery. If this is not the specific role for you but you are interested in working as a manager/ supervisor within our company then please apply and we can discuss further roles with you at interview.

The role will include the following responsibilities:

· Production line supervisor – helping to run automated production line producing £3 million of garden plants as part of a team

· Seedling production supervisor – using automated seeding machinery you will be part of the team producing 10,000 trays of seedlings each year in our state of the art propagation facility.

· Propagation supervisor – supervising the husbandry and care of 500,000 cuttings and seedlings with watering / plant health and plant care

· Spraying and plant health supervisor – as part of a team helping to apply sprays and regulate and grow garden plants across our 14 acre nursery site

· Watering and growing on supervisor – tending to £3 million of garden plants and growing them on ready for despatch

· Production team administration and organisation – as part of our production management team you will be helping to organise the growing of plants across the entire nursery site

Once fully trained you would become part of our eight person horticultural production management team working at one of the premier horticultural nurseries in the South West. As part of this team you would benefit from a changing daily working routine and a very wide range of responsibilities which will keep the role varied and exciting. Skills and commitment required:

· Commitment to a long term career in commercial horticulture which will include your commitment to assist with regular weekend working as part of a rota to look after £3 million of garden plants – weekend care is essential on rota basis with eight other staff

· Commitment to work “hands on” with physical working including lifting and carrying and organsing daily workload as part of a team.

· A strong interest and understanding of daily and weekly targets.

· Method of regular transport as our nursery is located away from regular bus routes

· DIY or mechanical interest would be advantage but not essential.

· Previous horticultural experience would be advantage but not essential.

· Would suit applicants who enjoy growing beautiful garden plants into flower and the sense of achievement and satisfaction.

· We can teach you everything but you need to want a career and have the right level of commitment and hands on working attitude and desire to succeed.

Our Renumeration Package on Offer

· Starting hourly wage of £13 to £16 per hour including pension contribution

· Training available on a wide range of key horticultural skills

· Opportunity to increase hourly pay on progressive basis with regular pay reviews – options to increase to £35k to £45k per year at management level within 2 years

· Options to join our profit share management scheme by invitation which shares out a large lump sum % of profits each year to key management team.

· Minimum 35 hour week increasing to 45 hours or more during peak season – opportunity to increase annual pay if you work more

· 28 days holiday
