Our horticultural business grows £3 million of bedding and patio plants per annum at our large 14 acre nursery near Martock, Yeovil. You would be part of a large nursery production and retail store team training, learning and focussed on seeding, propagation, production line supervision, growing on and dispatch of garden plants into the South West’s largest garden plant grower / retailer business.
Our garden plant dispatch department is fast paced with 6000 trolleys of garden plants passing through the dispatch area which have either been grown on our own nurseries or directly imported from Holland, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Germany each week. Your role would be to assist with and then learn the entire dispatch department workload and duties to include picking of orders, checking deliveries in, updating our EPOS computer data base with new deliveries, pricing plants and sorting out HGV drivers with information and supervision.
Your duties would be as follows:
· Learn and then supervise all picking of garden plants from the nursery glasshouses to correct specification.
· Supervise the processing lines to ensure quality thresholds are met regards garden plant standards
· Supervise incoming deliveries and properly check in loads against paperwork
· Upload information to head office and our EPOS system
· Communicate with our head office every day on multitude of issues
· Organise and supervise outgoing deliveries to our garden centres with HGV drivers and head office
· Manage a staff team successfully to get the workload completed on time and within deadlines
· Assist as needed with production and growing on of all plants on the nursery
· Learn all about commercial horticulture from seedling to growing and then retail
· Be part of a bigger management team and become integral to the most successful nurseries in the southwest of UK
Skills you will need:
· Good computer skills and ability to deal with administration, paperwork and head office checklists and requirements.
· Ability to understand systems and quick to pick up information and quality required when doing dispatch picking and quality standards
· This role requires you to be physically active all day on your feet and to carry out lifting and carrying consistently – it is a hands on position and applicants need to enjoy this type of work
· Good planning abilities to ensure consistent management of the production lines
· Good staff management abilities to organise your team effectively.
· Flexible attitude to duties so you can assist across the nursery as part of management team on a wider basis
· Interest in commercial horticulture and growing of plants

All hourly wage rates subject to successful completion of short initial trial period before we look to train and progress your career with us.
